Brian Knowles has been baking up a storm again…this time he’ll be teaching you how to recreate a recipe perfect for your next brunch gathering- with the added bonus of a seafaring link: Khachapuri!
Khachapuri is a traditional Georgian bread typically served for breakfast or lunch. This soft, cheese-filled bread is the national dish of the country of Georgia. Part of its charm is that it varies by region; the open-faced Adjaruli Khachapuri version is filled with cheese and herbs, with an egg nestled on top. It is quite literally a cheese boat or canoe -shaped to represent the sailors and boat builders along the Black Sea.
You’ll learn to shape and stuff the traditional boat shaped breads and the secret to having a perfectly runny egg yolk every time (if that’s not your thing, you can certainly opt for a less runny option.) You’ll also make a batch of dough to bring with you to recreate this wonderful bread at home.
